Your account, password and security
Your account is where you change your own name and password, and see where you're signed in. To open it, click your name at the bottom of the left sidebar.
How do I change my name?
- Open Your account.
- Under Profile, change Name. Up to 80 characters.
- Click Save name.
Your name is shown to your team in the inbox (on messages you send and notes you write) and in the activity log.
How do I change my email?
You can't change it yourself. Ask the KiliChat team on WhatsApp and we'll update it.
How do I change my password?
- Open Your account.
- Under Change password, type your Current password.
- Type your New password (at least 8 characters) and type it again in New password again.
- Click Change password.
You'll see Password changed. Your other devices were signed out. You stay signed in on this device.
It says "Your current password isn't right"
Check what you typed in Current password. If you've forgotten it, sign out and use Forgot password? on the sign-in page. See Signing in.
It says "Choose a password different from your current one"
Your new password must be different from the old one.
How do I see where I'm signed in?
Under Signed-in devices, KiliChat shows how many devices you're signed in on, including this one, and the time of your last sign-in.
How do I sign out everywhere else?
Click Sign out everywhere else. Every other phone, tablet and computer is signed out, and you'll see how many. This device stays signed in.
Do this if you've used a shared or public computer, or lost your phone.
How long do I stay signed in?
14 days on each device, unless you sign out sooner. After that, sign in again.
What is "On this device"?
These settings are saved only in the browser you're using, so each device can be different:
- Sound for new messages: a chime when a customer writes.
- Chat button on every page: the unread-chats button in the corner.
- Voice typing language: the language for the Voice button in the inbox.
How do I keep my account safe?
- Use your own login. Don't share it, even with your team.
- Choose a strong password you don't use anywhere else. A short sentence works well.
- Change the temporary password as soon as you first sign in.
- Sign out on shared computers, or use Sign out everywhere else afterwards.
- Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your login.
KiliChat also protects you: passwords are stored only as a one-way hash (nobody, including us, can read them), connections use HTTPS, and after 10 wrong passwords in a row sign-ins for that email are paused for a few minutes.
Does KiliChat have two-factor sign-in?
Not yet. Use a strong password and keep your email account safe, since password resets go there.
Can I delete my own account?
Not from the app. Ask the KiliChat team, or email info@kilichat.com. See Privacy and your data.
Will anyone know when I change my password?
Password changes, sign-ins and resets are recorded in the activity log, which agency admins can see. The password itself is never shown or stored in readable form.
