Quality, editing and deleting

What does "Quality: high", "medium" or "low" mean?

Meta rates each approved template by how customers react to it. KiliChat shows this as a badge on the template's card:

BadgeMeta's ratingWhat it means
Quality: highGreenCustomers are happy with it.
Quality: mediumYellowSome customers are blocking or reporting you after this message. Look at who you're sending it to and how it's worded.
Quality: lowRedMany negative reactions. Meta may pause the template.

No badge means Meta hasn't rated it yet, usually because it hasn't been sent much.

The rating in KiliChat is updated each time you click Sync from Meta.

Why would Meta pause my template?

If a template's quality is low, Meta may pause it for a few hours so it can't be sent. Repeated pauses can lead to Meta disabling it for good. In KiliChat a paused or disabled template shows as Rejected with "Meta status: PAUSED" or "Meta status: DISABLED". When Meta un-pauses it, it becomes Approved again (click Sync from Meta to check).

How do I keep quality high?

  • Only message people who gave you their number and expect to hear from you.
  • Use tags or segments to send offers to people who are interested, not to everyone. See Send a broadcast.
  • Don't send the same marketing template too often.
  • Add "Reply STOP to unsubscribe" in the footer of marketing templates. KiliChat opts out anyone who replies STOP. See Automatic replies and opt-out keywords.
  • Leave people out who recently got a similar message, using Leave some people out in the broadcast window.

Low template quality can also lower your phone number's quality rating and messaging limit. See Limits and pacing.

Can I edit an approved template?

No. Meta approved the exact wording, so KiliChat only lets you edit drafts and rejected templates. If you try, you'll see "Only drafts and rejected templates can be edited. Make a new template instead."

To change an approved template:

  1. Click New template (or Ready-made) and write the new version, with a new name like order_update_v2.
  2. Submit it and wait for approval.
  3. Switch your broadcasts, sequences and flows to the new template.

What you can change on an approved template at any time are its sending values: the header file, the location, the end of a changing link, the coupon code and the offer length. These don't need a new review.

Can I edit a template while it's in review?

No. Wait for Meta's decision. If it's rejected, you can edit it then.

How do I delete a template?

Click the bin icon on the template's card, then confirm "Delete template …?".

Good to know:

  • You can't delete a template a broadcast has used. You'll see "A broadcast uses this template, so it can't be deleted". This keeps your broadcast reports complete.
  • Deleting only removes it from KiliChat. The template stays in your Meta WhatsApp Manager. If you click Sync from Meta later, it comes back. To delete it for good, also delete it in Meta's WhatsApp Manager, or ask us to.
  • Sequences and flows that use it stop working at that step. A sequence step with a deleted template shows "Deleted template". Update them before deleting.

Can I copy a template?

There's no copy button. Open the template you like, read its wording, and create a new one from New template. Or start from a similar ready-made template.
