Retries and cancelling
Does KiliChat retry failed messages?
Yes, if you leave Try failed sends once more after 30 minutes ticked when creating the broadcast (it's ticked by default). Broadcasts with retries on show "· retries failed sends" under their name.
How it works:
- About 30 minutes after a message fails, KiliChat puts that person back in the queue and tries once more.
- If the second try also fails, it stays Failed.
- Skipped people (opted out, blocked, outside the 24-hour window, cancelled) are never retried.
- A completed broadcast shows Running again for a short while during the retry, then Completed.
Retrying helps with temporary problems like Meta being busy or a short connection issue. It doesn't help if the number isn't on WhatsApp or Meta is limiting marketing to that person.
Can I retry failed messages by hand?
There's no "retry now" button. If you need to reach people who missed out:
- Click Recipients on the broadcast and note who Failed, and why.
- Fix the cause if you can. For example, reconnect the number if its token expired. See Token expired.
- On the Contacts page, tag those people, for example
Retry Diwali. See Contacts. - Send a new broadcast to that tag.
TIP
Before resending a marketing message, check the failure reason. If it's Meta's "healthy ecosystem engagement" limit (131049), sending again soon is unlikely to work. Wait a day or two.
How do I stop a broadcast?
- Go to Automation → Broadcasts.
- Find the broadcast. It must be Running or Scheduled.
- Click Cancel.
There's no "are you sure?" step: the broadcast stops right away. Anyone still waiting is marked Skipped with "Broadcast cancelled". Messages already sent are not affected and can't be taken back.
Can I pause a broadcast and continue later?
No. Cancelling is final. To continue later, make a new broadcast and use Leave some people out to skip the people who already got it.
Can I change a scheduled broadcast?
Not directly. Cancel it and create a new one with the right details and time.
What does "Interrupted by a restart" mean?
If KiliChat's server restarts at the exact moment a message is being sent, KiliChat can't be sure whether it went out. To avoid messaging the person twice, it marks that message Failed with "Interrupted by a restart". If the broadcast has retries on, it's tried once more later.
What does "This broadcast can no longer be cancelled" mean?
The broadcast finished (or was already cancelled) before your click reached the server. Refresh the page to see its status.
