Sounds and notifications

KiliChat can play a chime when a customer writes, and shows a chat button on every page so you don't miss anything while you're working on something else. These settings are saved in your browser, so each computer or phone keeps its own.

How do I turn the new-message sound on or off?

Either:

  • click the bell icon next to the Inbox title (a bell with a line through it means the sound is off); or
  • go to Your account → On this device and switch Sound for new messages.

When you turn it on, you hear the chime once so you know it works. It plays on any page of the number you're on.

I turned the sound on but hear nothing
  • Browsers block sound until you've clicked somewhere on the page once. Click anywhere in KiliChat after it loads.
  • Check your computer's volume and that the browser tab isn't muted.
  • The chime only plays while KiliChat is open in a tab, and only for the number you're currently on.

What is the chat button in the corner?

On most pages, a round chat button sits in the bottom-right corner. A red badge shows how many chats have unread messages (up to 99+).

Click it to see Unread chats: up to 8 of the latest, with a preview. Click one to jump straight into it, or click Open the inbox. If there's nothing new, it says All caught up.

The button is hidden on the Inbox and Team board pages (where you can already see your chats) and while you're editing a flow.

How do I hide the chat button?

Go to Your account → On this device and switch off Chat button on every page.

Will I get notifications when KiliChat is closed?

No. KiliChat doesn't send phone or desktop push notifications yet, and there's no mobile app. Keep KiliChat open in a browser tab during working hours, with the sound on.

Does KiliChat email me about new messages?

No. Emails are only sent for password resets, and to the KiliChat team for alerts.

How do I change the voice typing language?

Go to Your account → On this device → Voice typing language and choose from English (India), Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, English (US) or English (UK). The Voice button in the inbox then listens in that language. See Replying to customers.

Why are my settings different on my phone?

These three settings (sound, chat button and voice language) are saved on each device. Set them once on each phone or computer you use. In a private or incognito window, they may reset when you close it.
