What is KiliChat?
KiliChat is one place for your business to talk to customers on WhatsApp. Your whole team shares one inbox, and you can send offers to many customers at once and set up a chatbot that replies day and night.
It runs on the official WhatsApp Cloud API from Meta, the company that owns WhatsApp. KiliChat is run by Digital Tamila, a digital agency in Chennai. We set it up for you, connect your number and train your team.
How do the pieces fit together?
Everything in KiliChat belongs to a WhatsApp number. If your business has two numbers, each one has its own inbox, contacts, templates and automations.
| Piece | What it does | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|
| WhatsApp number | Your business number, connected to KiliChat. You pick it from the WhatsApp number menu at the top of the left sidebar. | Connecting a number |
| Inbox | Every chat with every customer. Your team reads and replies here. | Using the inbox |
| Team board | The same chats shown as cards in columns by status, so you can see the team's workload. | Team board |
| Contacts | Everyone who has messaged you or whom you've added or imported, with their tags and details. | Contacts |
| Templates | Messages that Meta has approved in advance. You need one to message a customer who hasn't written to you in the last 24 hours. | Templates |
| Broadcasts | Send an approved template to many contacts at once, and see who got it and read it. | Broadcasts |
| Flows | A chatbot you build by joining steps together: it can answer questions, show buttons, ask for details and hand over to a person. | Automation |
| Sequences | A series of messages sent one after another over days, for example after someone signs up. | Automation |
A quick way to think about it
Customers write to your number. Their chats land in the inbox, and each person becomes a contact. To start a conversation yourself, you send an approved template, one at a time from the inbox or to many people as a broadcast. Flows and sequences do some of the talking for you.
Who uses KiliChat?
There are three kinds of login. Each one sees a different part of the app.
- Agency admin: the KiliChat team at Digital Tamila. We can see and set up every client.
- Client admin: the business owner or manager. They can use everything for their own business: the inbox, contacts, templates, broadcasts, flows and settings.
- Agent: staff who answer customers. They use the inbox, the team board and contacts.
More on this in Team members and roles.
Do I need anything before I start?
You need:
- A phone number for your business that can receive an SMS or a call, so Meta can check it's yours.
- A Facebook login for the business owner, and a Meta business account (we can help you create one during setup).
- A payment method added in Meta's WhatsApp Manager, because Meta charges for some messages itself. See What it costs.
The KiliChat team then creates your login, connects your number and adds your team.
Is there a mobile app?
Not yet. KiliChat works in a web browser at app.kilichat.com, on a computer, tablet or phone. On a phone, tap the menu button at the top left to open the sidebar. Chrome or Edge work best, and voice typing only works in those two.
Can I keep using WhatsApp on my phone with the same number?
Usually not. Once a number is connected to the WhatsApp Cloud API, you read and answer its messages in KiliChat instead of the WhatsApp app. If your number is on the WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app today, talk to us before connecting it, so you don't lose access by surprise. See Connecting a WhatsApp number.
Does KiliChat limit how many messages I send?
No. KiliChat doesn't count or cap messages on any plan. Meta has its own limits on how many new customers you can message in a day, which grow as you use WhatsApp well. See WhatsApp's rules.
